Personal Branding
For my Personal Identity Logo, I decided to create a pictoral wordmark combination in a modern, quirky style to represent my personality in this new world. I designed the logo in illustrator, using a photograph of myself in Asbury Park as the reference. I focused my attention to the values in my face, translating them to a green pallet to give a sense of nature and life in my face. I picked a rounded bold typeface titled Shrikhand to pair with the pictoral design of my face due to the dense weight and smooth edges of this strong font. I felt this typeface reflected my unapologetic existence, while maintaining a gentle heart. I chose to display my name as Harrison West, rather than Harrison Brouwer as I would have preferred, because on my résumé and business cards where my logo is displayed, my name is written in its entirety; Harrison Brouwer West. I took inspiration from an independent photographer, graphic.cal on Instagram, who edits his photographs to appear fragmented. While graphic.cal fragments his photographs using things such as telephone wires as a point to cut the image and paste in another one from a different time with different lighting, I used the transition of values to make my face appear fragmented. I am pleased with how my logo came out, as it encapsulates my personality and how I would like to be perceived very well.
