For my Cape May postcard design, I wanted to convey an old-fashioned setting with a grainy color-mapped finish to allow the viewer to feel a sense of age and care. The chosen scenes: Cape May Beach, Beach Plum Farm, & The Lobster House are significant landmarks in Cape May that have maintained their heritage and history, providing service for many decades. Each postcard has a unique, carefully selected color map applied to the reticulation effect used to create a more naturally spread grain. The colors are supposed to give the viewer a feel for the landmark’s aesthetics. The catchphrases written on the postcards are aimed to be simple and effective at providing the viewer a memory to look forward to making while spending time in Cape May.
